Edmund Crispin wrote nine detective novels and two collections of short stories. Under his real name of Bruce Montgomery, he was a highly successful composer of both concert and film music. On the 40th anniversary of his death, his biographer David Whittle looks at Montgomery’s life and the various worlds he inhabited.
