Can you write a Super Short Story?

Essex Book Festival aims to inspire and enthuse the young and young at heart with a whole host of events and activities for families, children and young people. This summer we are embracing FLASH FICTION, inviting children to write a SUPER SHORT STORY in 75 words or less.

We’ll give a prize to the best 75-word response, starting with the prompt:

“ONCE I FOUND A MAGIC BOOK AND WHEN I LOOKED INSIDE….”

HOW TO ENTER:

* email your story to hello@essexbookfestival.org.uk, along with your name, age, and parent/guardian’s email address

* post it to Essex Book Festival, Centre for Creative Writing, University of Essex, Colchester, Essex CO4 3SQ – again, remember to tell us your name, age and parent/guardian’s email address

* download and print off our YOUNG ESSEX bookmark, fill it in and send it to us – click here to download the bookmark

We’re also working with our friends at Essex Children’s University – if you are a Children’s University Learner, you will be awarded 3 hours of CU Learning in your Passport to Learning on completion of this activity.

There is no deadline, as entry for the competition is ongoing, but prizes will be awarded to the best entries so far in October 2017 and in March 2018.
