Author, poet and songwriter Adrian May’s latest book, Boot Sale Harvest, describes a year of going to boot sales with a wide and witty range of musings and purchases. The book takes you on a seasonal journey round the fields of what Grayson Perry recently described as being like ‘a very casual museum’.

Join Adrian for a stroll around Colchester Car Boot Sale and buy an unexpected item of your choice. Select carefully as the item will be used as inspiration for your writing at a workshop with Adrian and fellow poet Elelia Ferro which will take place just down the road at Cuckoo Farm Studios.

In partnership with Focal Point Gallery and their Radical Essex programme, re-examining the county in relation to radicalism in thought, lifestyle, politics and architecture.

About the book
Boot Sale Harvest describes a year of going to boot sales with author, poet and songwriter Adrian May. With an introduction by social historian Ken Worpole and a wide and witty range of musings and purchases, the book takes you on a seasonal journey round the fields of what Grayson Perry recently described as being like ‘a very casual museum’.

‘Delightfully engaging and suitably eclectic in style, Boot Sale Harvest is a welcome celebration of the wonders of rummaging, of seeking treasures on a Sunday morning. Generously warm in tone, this is a must-have book for all who love the joy of picking among the bric-a-brac. Glorious.’
– James Canton, Director of Wild Writing at the University of Essex, and author of The Oak Papers and Grounded.
